Silicon Valley, California, Sep 15 2016/Meeting Recap/ Setting aside the definite downscaling of CTIA Supermobility as it passes the baton to the new GSMA Mobile World Congress Americas, which will replace the show next year, it was appropriate that Telecom Council’s 5G meeting followed this debrief when much of the buzz at CTIA was 5G and IoT.
On the IoT side, Smart Cities and Smart Homes and a plethora of retail products dominated, with a cooling off for Connected Cars and Wearables. 5G presence indicated the US as the industry leader with Nokia and Qualcomm delivering keynotes extolling 5G as the “unifying connecting fabric” of future communications.
